I am Distinguished Scientist in the Rich Media Experiences (RMX) group at Zillow.

My main research interests are image and video enhancement, and image-based modeling and rendering. I've co-edited two books: "Panoramic Vision: Sensors, Theory, and Applications" (with R. Benosman) and "Emerging Topics in Computer Vision" (with G. Medioni). I've also co-authored two books: "Image-Based Rendering" (with H.-Y. Shum and S.-C. Chan) and "Image-Based Modeling of Plants and Trees" (with L. Quan).

I was involved with Microsoft Pix (shipped on iOS July 27, 2016). Pix is among TIME's top 50 apps and NYTimes' outstanding apps for 2016. At Zillow, I was involved in implementing handheld on-device panorama stitching for its 3D Home Tour (shipped on iOS January 30, 2020). This release was timely, given the significant increase in interest in remote home tours.

The Zillow Indoor Dataset (ZInD) is available for download (academic research only)! It features more than 70k omnidirectional panoramas from more than 1.5k unfurnished homes, and has room layout and annotation (windows and doors) information. ZInD is described in our CVPR 2021 paper; see also this webpage on information on its distribution.

New in June 2022: Zillow Group’s applied science homepage, which lists publications and provide links to datasets and code, if available.
